Consider The Ant

If we humans had muscles in the proportions of ants, we'd be able to heave a Hyundai over our heads! Ants are capable of carrying objects 50 times their own body weight with their mandibles. Ants use their diminutive size to their advantage. Relative to their size, their muscles are thicker than those of larger animals or even humans. This ratio enables them to produce more force and carry larger objects.

Sometimes I wonder what would happen to an ant who didn't realise the above "truth" about himself but looked at himself and said "No I can't carry that! Look at me, I'm way too small."

Many of us are like that ant in our "colonies" not fulfilling our full potential because we don't know the truth about ourselves. We think we can't inspire others, we can't be amazing, we can't be inspirational, resourceful, proficient, competent, friendly, amicable, harmonious, pleasing, cordial, sincere, sociable, tactful, humble, (ok, let me stop) or enthusiastic individuals.

In order for us to reach our full potential in life we must develop our relationship with God. It is the only thing that assures our full maturity, it is a duty we have to ourselves.

Life can be like living in an ant colony. Like a maze, you start out at one end and your objective is to find your way to the other end and play your part to contribute to the harmony.

In this colony we build rich and unique emotional experiences and strive for a particular quotient of happiness. In this maze, many times you may make a turn and hit a dead end and you have to go another way. That door closing on you sends you another way. It doesn't mean you will never get what you want, it just means you need to go another way. Ants don't  stop because a door closed. If you keep moving, eventually you will get to where you're going.

We must learn to thank God for closed doors. You have to know that if God wanted you to go that way, no man could close that door. But for some reason he allowed that door to be closed.

Finally, we succeed by faith. By faith and obedience.  The Bible is replete with the direction of God for his children. Like an onion it has so many layers. Direction admonition and inspiration for our journey through this maze . My prayer is that we all take time to nurture this most precious of relationships. We move when He says MOVE , stop when He says STOP, slow down when He says SLOW DOWN. And like the ant reach our Full potential.
