How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

As Christians most of us believe that our faith in Jesus Christ influences us in our marriages and family relationships but sometimes we don't really think about how or shall I say put it in perspective. A successful marriage requires faith—both in God and faith in each other.Facing uncertainty is a certainty in life but I have found that faith in gives us strength to face those uncertainties. These are responses from four other Christians on how faith in Jesus Christ influences marriages and family relationships.

  • My husband and I grew up completely different. Our cultures are different as well as how we were raised. It would be easy to focus on the negative differences we have in our relationship. Luckily with our faith in Jesus Christ we have come to realize we are not so different. Where it matters most we are the same. We are children of God and his influence helps us see each other with patience and kindness as we have kept the good from both cultures and have gotten rid of the bad . We have learned to respect one another in our marriage and that has naturally transferred to better relationships with our children and friends. We have more love and tolerance for others with our faith in Jesus Christ
  • Jesus Christ is an example of perfection in all ways. His way of loving even those who tortured him and put him to death shows us that sometimes it takes monumental effort on or part to make a relationship work. Knowing that we sin every day and cause him a portion of the terrible pain he suffered in the garden, and that he forgives us as soon as we ask him to and loves us unconditionally, how can we turn around and not forgive our fellow man for a simple mistake. Just knowing that Jesus Christ existed helps me to believe I can be better, and know that I will be better if I ask him for help..
  • It can be tough to maintain a healthy, happy marriage and good relationships with independent children. The Gospel of Jesus Christ makes this much easier by helping us develop the same goals and ideals. Having faith in the Savior strengthens all of our relationships, because this faith can help us to be more forgiving, understanding and patient. This faith is a great guide in knowing how to respond to a challenging person or situation as well. He wants us to be united and live peacefully with each other, so it is through His teachings and His Spirit that we can learn better how to do this.
  • Faith in Jesus Christ will help build a bond with your spouse that will be able to withstand the wrongs in the world. If you put Christ first in your marriage, and your spouse next then yourself most problems will be solved. Of course my husband and I have had our problems and misunderstandings however when I remember the above advice I just gave, things work out. Faith is an action and dealing with people is an action! The more you have faith in Christ the more success you will have in working and interacting with people.
Faith in God is more than a theoretical belief in Him. To have faith in God is to trust Him, to have confidence in Him, and to be willing to act on our belief in Him. Shared faith in God can lend couples the strength to overcome obstacles that might otherwise damage precious relationships. Any strong marital or family relationship must be based on mutual trust and trustworthiness. Put your faith in him today.

Stay faithful
