Dishwashing With "The Truth"

Spoken: Let me tell you why I love him

Chorus:
Cause he is the truth (John 14:6)

Said he is so real (1 Corinthians 15:17)
And I love the way that he makes me feel
And if I am a reflection of him (Genesis 1:27)
Then I must be fly (Psalm 139:14)
Because His light it shines so bright (Matthew 5:14)
I wouldn't lie, no

-The Truth, by India Arie

I think this song could have been so better as a gospel song. I usually play the album "Voyage to India" while I was the dishes ( I hate washing dishes) but it makes the task so resplendent. But then I remember the inconvenient reality that my hands are in soapy water and my daughter is tugging at my leg because she wants to wash too and sadly she can't because she is only 19 months old and by the time she is old enough to, she will probably hate washes dishes just as much as I do.

But back to the song.Yeah Jesus is The Truth and his love is as real as the soap suds all over the dishes and it washes me. He is the Expression of the reality touching the relations between moral beings and God - all the relations, not only those of saints and holy angels, but those of rebels and sinners, whose destiny he has taken upon himself. He is the Way because he is the whole Truth about God and man and concerning the way to the Father.

" I  love the way he makes me feel...". I remember His love for me is not a mere feeling, it doesn't change with the tide and isn't relegated to a certain class of affection. I think of this chorus in the context of christ's love and it becomes an intimate conversation between the two of us that blows me away and leaves me ever so thankful and smiling at the expansiveness of his love, smiles that document how blessed I am to know Christ.

"...There ain't no substitute for the truth
Either it is or isn't...
And if I am a reflection of him then I must be fly..."
