Ties That Bind

This movie came out about three years ago and I never gave it a chance until a friend encouraged me to a few days ago. It consists of three thought provoking stories, directed by Leila Djansi portraying African society in a way that many films have, but in a such a unique and succinct manner. Showing us that many women are still not offered the the fairness and choices that will give them a completely fulfilled life. In summary, Ties That Bind resonated for me because of the topics it handled with three women who are dealing with various issues of motherhood, infertility and being a woman in an African community.

Adobea played by Omotola Jalade Ekeinde is also incapable of having live babies with her husband, she either miscarries, has stillbirth or the children die as infants. We watch as she endures several humiliations and pressure from all around especially from her mother-in-law. Though he appears weak and under his mother's thumb, I like that her husband stands by her her when it really matters.

Desires of the Heart -Movie review

The weekend is almost here. What will you be watching?

Desires of the heart is based around twin bothers Ethan and Jack struggles over their birthright – ownership of their father’s business, The Abrams Group, and a treasured family heirloom. But when their father Ike dies, Ethan and Jack find nothing is as they thought it would be.

An irreversible decision is made by their mother that damages the very fabric of the family. Ethan finds he must confront the choices of the past and the hurt and anger that poison his spirit. If he succeeds, he will discover the power that forgiveness holds.

A compelling tale of forgiveness and reconciliation that parallels the Biblical story of Jacob and Esau.

This touching Christian drama really brings out how important a father’s approval and acceptance really is. This film will be helpful to parents to see how the eternal consequences of their children may be as a direct result of their own choices.

I Am Gabriel - Movie Review

Storyline
An unforgiving sun, a parched earth, and a failed economy have left a small Texas town desolate. For ten years Promise, Texas has known nothing but one curse after another. It's barren, broken, and dying, leaving a town full of despair. When a couple finds a boy walking along a dusty road, alone in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but a mat tucked under his arm, they pick him up in hopes of helping him. What they don't realize is that he has come to help them and the residents of Promise.

After I saw the trailer I really wanted to watch this movie, not just because it’s a Christian movie, but because the character Gabriel,  played by Gavin Casalegno looks plausibly angelic.

Tyler Perry's Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor- Movie Review

I am a massive Tyler Perry fan so you just have to see Tyler Perry's Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor is a compelling love story that dives straight into the heart of obsessive passion. It's about a woman -Judith, played by Journee Smolett-Bell (she is such a good actress) who starts to get restless in her relationship and her choice to be with another man has a huge effect on the rest of her life. Yes, I know it sounds very cliche but I'm sure you will enjoy it.

It's a bold exploration of the perils and complications of infidelity, the film accurately portrays how people can become way too comfortable in their relationships and how temptation can set in when everything is dull. Tyler really understands understand how the stability of a healthy relationship can be threatened by complacency and indifference.

Tyler Perry's The Family That Preys

OK, I know many of you might have seen it but I know it didn't get as much publicity as the others so if you haven't seen, please do, I know you won't regret it. The Family that preys is a simple tale of good versus evil that also delivers solid acting and an enjoyable script. it has his trademark trio: sincerity, spirituality, and story.

Its Reminiscent of the classic Hollywood melodramas filled with financial, romantic, and family anguish, this is the story of two families, one white and wealthy, one black and poor, and the many ways they interact — in business, in friendship, in love, and in battle.

Both families are headed by strong, determined single mothers. Charlotte (Kathy Bates) is the matriarch of the wealthy Cartwright family and holds the controlling shares in its construction business. Her closest friend is Alice (Alfre Woodard), the owner of a run-down diner who is always willing to give a free meal and clean clothes to someone who needs help. Charlotte’s son William (Cole Hauser)

Too Saved -Movie Review

Too Saved (2007)  is a  low budget, Christian movie. It does not have any of your popular faces or any fantastic locations but I would say, it's profitable to direct.

Lisa has prayed for years that God would save Bobby,  she seems to be stuck in "faking it till she makes it" but when he finally sees the light its much more than Lisa bargained for. Is Bobby Too Saved to hold onto his relationship with Lisa?
