Love is more than a feeling. .. we have all heard that many times, it is probably beginning to sound cliché. As cliché as it may sound, we can't deny the fact that it's true. Love is more than just a feeling, or butterflies in your tummy, it is a verb. It is an act of doing. It is not just empty words, it is a verb full of actions. There are certain acts of love that many of us have either taken for granted or have not bothered to learn. I have termed these factors ACTS of love because the acronym ACTS sum them up nicely.
#1 Appreciation: Relationships always get to a stage where both parties take each other for granted. Wonen say this happens after the man gets his way sexually and many men say this happens when a woman knows she is absolutely loved by her man. Whatever the case, appreciation in many relationships depreciate and that's what often leads to dissatisfaction and unhappiness. Learn to appreciate your partner! It won't take anything out of you to buy a bouquet of flowers for your lady, to prepare a nice dinner for your man, to even buy a card to say thank you for being a wonderful partner to me. Everyone wants to be reminded every now and then that they are special; your partner is not an exception.
#2 Compassion: I believe it is easier to love someone if you can put yourself in that person's shoes. These days, many of us are too selfish to worry about other people's problems, not even our partner's. We don't want to be bothered with their work issues. We act like we are listening but our minds are elsewhere. We just don't want to be bothered. When you decide to go into a relationship, you are signing up to be a partner, a listener, a helper and a friend. Compassion is an important factor and one of the best ways to show someone you care.
