It’s Not About Speed, It's About Endurance

Some years back I thought I was putting on too much weight so I decided to start jogging in the mornings. I found a partner who lived in our estate, but he was into sports so could run much further distances than me.

We calculated what a mile would be and planned to achieve that every morning by running past all the closes, right down to the end of the estate. As I got out all motivated in my running shoes we hit the road and I realised I couldn't run even a quarter of the distance, I lived in Close C but I couldn't run from Close C to Close E without stopping. By the time I had reached Close F I had to stop and I was so disappointed in myself –embarrassed even.

Religion can't save us. Only Love can.

Wouldn’t you love if you could peel off the skin that guides people’s hearts and thoughts were as clear as writings on a paper? I bet you hate how being human keeps one limited and all one can see are opaque heads. Do you ever desire an unguided journey through where the darkest secrets are kept and where the most brilliant of ideas are conceived? What if you are obliged a trip through the human mind, would you tell others the absurdities held inside? Would you play God or would you be forced to understand that we are all the same. Enveloped in the rot that eats us all away? Driven by greed and fierce survival.

What makes us us? Who makes the rules on this field? Who decides what is right or wrong? Who is sane enough to make sense of all the chaos we have created? What is all these craze about religion? If rapture were to happen now, would any of us be saved?

If we're played tapes of the lives we lived after death, would we be proud of who we're ? Are we right to judge others by their beliefs?

If we all are of the same race, religion and family, would discrimination cease to exist?

God's Waiting Room - A review

Waiting for an appointment with a doctor can be irritating, time-wasting, and downright anxiety producing. , Debra Johnson uses the common experience of a waiting room as a metaphor to show how life in general is filled with stressful times of waiting. It’s funny that I came across this book in the waiting room of someone I want to interview in a few days; it was like he was indirectly saying something to impatient people like me. The writer suggests Bible verses, examples of prayers, and prayer writing exercises as strategies to help you trust in God patiently, while including snippets from her own life struggles, too.

You will find relevant listings of Bible verses throughout the book. In the chapter “Wait,” for example, she espouses that love; joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance are the necessary traits which “…will keep us in good waiting form from now until eternity.” She then offers verses specifically addressing each of these qualities. She cites John 15:11, for example, as referring to joy: “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” Other verses allude to different qualities, and each chapter opens with a pertinent verse too.
